inert atmospheric solids analysis probe(iASAP)

Samples are loaded onto the probe tip, enabling volatilization of target analytes from the matrix into the gas phase. A continuous inert gas stream transports volatilized compounds to the ionization zone under oxygen-free conditions. Within the corona discharge zone, vaporized molecules undergo proton transfer/charge exchange with reagent ions (e.g., H₃O⁺, O₂⁻) shielded by inert gas, generating stable ions: [M+H]⁺ (positive mode); [M-H]⁻ (negative mode).

Introduction

The iASAP (inert gas-protected ASAP) probe is a revolutionary direct-inlet mass spectrometry interface that integrates inert gas shielding with conventional ASAP technology. By coupling thermal desorption-APCI ionization within an inert atmosphere, this system overcomes traditional direct-intake limitations for thermally labile compounds, delivering oxygen-free, low-degradation analysis for oxidation-sensitive and highly reactive substances.
