Backgroud

Human Papillomavirus(HPV)infects humans through direct or indirect contact with contaminated objects or via sexual transmission. This virus exhibits both host specificity and tissue specificity, capable of infecting only the epithelial cells of human skin and mucous membranes, thereby causing various papillomas or warts on the skin and proliferative lesions of the genital tract epithelium.

Persistent infection with high-risk types of HPV is the primary cause of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and cervical cancer. Global research findings indicate that high-risk HPV DNA is detected in 99.7% of cervical cancer patients, with HPV types 16, 18, 45, and 31 accounting for 80% of these infections. Low-risk types of HPV are generally associated with condyloma acuminatum or low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions.
