Background

Diarrhea is one of the most common clinical diseases, characterized by symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever. Infections of the small intestine often present with watery diarrhea, whereas infections of the large intestine frequently involve bloody stools, among other varied symptoms. It can be caused by multiple pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and parasites, among which viruses have been recognized as the most significant class of diarrheal pathogens.

Introduction

This product is designed for the qualitative detection of diarrheal viruses in human fecal samples, including: Rotavirus (Groups A, B, C), Norovirus (Genotypes GI, GII), Enteric adenovirus (Types 40, 41), Astrovirus, Sapovirus, The assay differentiates between the five viruses listed above, with the following specifications:

• Rotavirus and adenovirus detection does not differentiate between specific subtypes of the same pathogen

• Norovirus detection distinguishes between GI and GII genotypes

Test results may aid in the auxiliary clinical diagnosis of diarrheal viral infections.
